Wealthy trader barons and their families enjoyed the beachfront paradise of Oradam in comparison to the working class origins of Talloran village. The men and women spent their money building elaborate homes and relaxing by the sea. Their freely flowing credits attracted numerous merchants and artisans to Oradam, many of whom stayed long after their wealthy patrons fled. Its importance to the group is symbolic. Republic strategists think that the enemy would most likely burn the village to the ground if they succeeded in invading Oradam.
