At Or Adam, you’ll participate in a personal and inspiring celebration, saying words that you can understand and relate to your life – words that enrich you as they celebrate your Jewish identity. We are the only congregation in the Greater Phoenix area to offer Humanistic celebrations with heartfelt readings and songs in English and Hebrew.
We celebrate Shabbat beginning at 7:00pm at the Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center, our new home.
Our celebrations are warm and welcoming, and enhanced by live music and singing. We encourage member participation in leadership and in our varied readings. Children are always welcome, and our Sunlight School students may play a leading role in the celebation.
Following our Shabbat celebration, we enjoy good snacks and get to know each other better during the Oneg. We may then hold a special discussion featuring guest speakers or member presentations. Discussion topics have included: foundations of Humanistic Judaism, genealogy, Jewish music, the Holocaust, Middle Eastern relations, and more. Shabbat celebrations and guest speakers are listed in the Upcoming Events column to the left of this page. Members are invited to click on the Member Site link for additional readings and discussions.
