History

Or Adam was founded by two local families in 1987 and has grown into a vibrant congregation. We are part of the national and international Secular Humanistic Judaism movement which was originated by Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine in the Detroit area in 1963. One of our founding members, Dana Naimark, grew up attending Sherwin Wine’s Birmingham Temple in Michigan. Dana and her husband, Rick, helped to introduce and promote Secular Humanistic Jewish principles here in the Phoenix area by creating and building Or Adam.
