Hannukah
Or Adam views Hannukah, a holiday commemorating the triumph of the Maccabees over religious oppression, from a Humanistic lens. We strive to be like the Maccabees, not because of their religious beliefs, but because they bravely seized control of their own future. Hannukah serves as a reminder that human beings can use their abilities to change the quality and course of their lives. The burning candles of the Hannukiah, the eight-branched candelabrum, are a reminder of the past struggles and triumphs of Jews everywhere.
Our Humanistic Hannukah celebration offers fun and games for all ages. Festivities include music, dancing, community-Hannukiah lighting, lots of latkes, storytelling, and dreidel games.
We hope to see you at next year's Hannukah celebration!
